Microbiology Technologist

Growing pharmaceutical consulting company is looking for an experienced clinical microbiologist for a medium sized research laboratory in Schaumburg, Illinois. International Health Management Associates (IHMA) and its affiliates specialize in Infectious Diseases and offer the most comprehensive services available to companies developing and marketing antimicrobial agents. Vascular Transplant Services, a division of IHMA, is a tissue bank which processes human tissue for transplantation. Microbiologist will be responsible for setting up, reading, and reporting cultures of transplant tissues, as well as assisting in additional special projects as directed.

Experience required:

• 5+ years experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory. Prefer MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
• Must be proficient in identifying organisms (aerobes and anaerobes) to genus and species by colony morphology and biochemical testing.
• Should be familiar with CLSI guidelines and FDA requirements for microbiology laboratories.
• Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access a great plus.
• Must demonstrate excellent organizational, verbal and written skills, and the ability to perform routine duties independently.
